Ammolite is an opal-like organic gemstone found primarily along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains of North America. It is made of the fossilized shells of ammonites, which in turn are composed primarily of aragonite, the same mineral contained in nacre, with a microstructure inherited from the shell.

History of Ammolite
Also called gem Ammonite or Korite, the word Ammolite is taken from the name of the Ancient Egyptian God Ammon, who was represented by a ram’s head with twisted horns. This representation looked similar to the shell of the Ammonites which existed in prehistoric times. In the tradition of Feng Shui it is called the Seven Colour Prosperity Stone, the beautiful iridescent colours of Ammolite in all the shades of the rainbow, represent the harmonious balance of fire, earth, metal, water, and wood.
